ABANDONED COOK OVEN - 6X8 Oil

This piece was done from a photograph taken on the Wichita Wildlife Refuge. That's a fun place to spend the day with your camera and a sack lunch.
This was an old abandoned cook oven. I liked all the rocks, some piled and others tumbling to the ground. Wild flowers and grasses vie for attention.
I thought about the women who cooked food for their families in these crude ovens—I went home and smiled upon my black, shiny electric cookstove.
